Employee Resilience and Organizational Citizenship Behaviour: The Mediating Role of Employee Engagement in the Banking Sector
As organizations in the Indian banking sector struggle to enhance employee commitment and promote voluntary workplace behaviours, employee resilience has appeared as an important factor. This research investigates the impacts of employee resilience on Organizational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB). And examines the mediating role of Employee Engagement (EE) in associate between Employee Resilience (R) and Organizational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB). Data were collected from 216 banking employees across Chennai, Trichy, Madurai, Coimbatore, and Bangalore using a well-structured questionnaire. PLS-SEM (Partial Least Squares-based Structural Equation Modeling) was utilized for the analysis. The results show that Employee Resilience (R) significantly and positively influences both Employee Engagement (EE) and Organizational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB). And Employee Engagement partially mediates between Employee Resilience and Organizational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB). The study findings have managerial implications; banking sector managers can implement resilience building programs and engagement enhancing strategies to cultivate a citizenship oriented, committed, and adaptable workforce, ultimately improving organizational performance and work culture.
