The Role of Strategic Management in Institutional Performance: An Applied Study at the University of Diyala, Iraq
This study aimed to examine the role of strategic management, through its planning, organizing, executing, and controlling dimensions, in institutional performance at the University of Diyala. A descriptive–analytical approach was employed, and questionnaires were distributed to a stratified random sample of 125 administrative leaders and employees. The findings revealed a statistically significant positive correlation between the dimensions of strategic management and institutional performance. Multiple regression analysis also showed that these dimensions explained 80.9% of the variance in institutional performance. The organizing dimension had the greatest influence, followed by controlling and planning, while executing had a negative coefficient, attributed to substantial multicollinearity among some dimensions. No statistically significant differences in institutional performance were found by gender or years of service. The study recommended strengthening the organizational structure, developing key performance indicators, addressing multicollinearity among the dimensions, and paying greater attention to strategic implementation.
